She never knew her father.
She lived with her mother until her mother died of HIV. She lived with her grandmother but her
grandmother could not take care of her properly.
Their parents were dead they lived with their grandmother
but she could not feed them. They went
to live with an uncle but there too there wasn’t enough. Finally they started wondering the streets
and begging just so they could eat.
They don’t know their father. Their mother had too many debts and could not
care for them. One day she took their
younger sister and left. She never came
back.
I’ve been putting together a photo album of all the Mavuno
kids with pictures and a little bit of their story so people can match names,
stories, and faces when they pray for them during staff meeting. As I have been putting it together I have had
a chance to read these stories along with many others. They break my heart. I can’t help but wonder how God could let
this happen to little children.
But if I continue to read, if I look at their pictures, if I
go outside the door and see the children out there playing and laughing, I
remember: no matter how hard these children’s lives have been God has not forsaken
them nor did He ever forsake them.
They are now all cared for and provided for. They now have parents who love them. Most of all they have been shown the love of
God who will never leave them. Maybe
they never would have had any of this if it had not been for their stories
beforehand. I guess I will never know
but I thank God for these children and what he is doing here. He has a plan even when things look hopeless.
